A delegation from the Singapore National Environment Agency recently visited funeral facility parks in Taiwan's New Taipei, including the Sanzhi Sakura Life Park and Xinzhuang Life Memorial Hall, to exchange ideas with the city government on green funeral policies and other topics, aiming to jointly promote modern funeral transformation through international exchanges.
In a press release on Wednesday, the New Taipei City Department of Civil Affairs stated that Deputy Mayor Liu Heran said New Taipei and Singapore both face the challenge of precious urban land resources. This exchange particularly focused on modern green funeral policies and sustainable land management. Both sides shared insights on topics such as the planning and technological upgrading of funeral facilities, time-limited columbarium usage policies, multi-urn in one cabinet solutions, and the integration of eco-friendly burials into land management.
The Department of Civil Affairs added that, in the promotion of green funerals, as of May this year, the number of eco-friendly burials has increased from 1,700 cases prior to the system reform to a cumulative total of 20,000 cases. The Singapore delegation also visited the Sanzhi Sakura Life Park and Jinshan Dharma Drum Mountain Eco-Friendly Life Park to exchange practical management experience. In addition, the delegation visited Lung Yen and Chin Pao San to learn about the operations of private funeral facilities.
