(City News, 15th) The Jide Care Association's "Cultural Academy" took an in-depth look at the historical reforms following Qin Shi Huang's unification and their profound impact on later generations during last night's class. The course covered various aspects of the Qin Dynasty's unification, including the standardization of script, axle width, and weights and measures, as well as the implementation of the prefecture-county system. In particular, the review of the historic conflict between Chu and Han not only introduced the historical background of this battle, but also analyzed its importance in the development of Chinese history.
The course included historical discussions on the legacy of Qin's unification and the Chu-Han Contention; idiom stories introducing the background and significance of many idioms from the Chu-Han Contention; cultural knowledge about the Qin system of weights and measures and ancient-modern ratios, the historical value of the standardized script, the significance of axle width standardization, and selected readings from Mencius, a classic from the Four Books, featuring four excerpts of its essence.
