(Bandar Seri Begawan, 24th) The Brunei Youth Council (MBB), together with its affiliates Step One Theater, CureHeart, the National Welfare Joint Initiative Organization (JIWA), Demi Gadis, and GirlUp BruGen, jointly organized a series of educational talks and workshops titled "Invisible Threats: Safeguarding Youth, Faith, and Community Safety."
This activity was held in conjunction with the Family Day celebration at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports auditorium.
This project received strong support from the Social Development Department of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (JAPEM) and the Health Promotion Center (HPC) of the Ministry of Health.
Acting Director of the Social Development Department, Faziya, attended the event as a special guest and officiated at the event. The keynote speaker, Izzati, was invited for a thematic speech. The speech delved into inducement mechanisms (psychological manipulation), the blurring of boundaries, and clarifications of related myths and facts regarding the protection of children and youth in family structures and communities. An interactive Q&A session was also held with the participants.
The necessity of this event arose from a public survey of 140 respondents, which revealed existing "blind spots" in society. Major findings include: Perceptions of perpetrators: a significant proportion of the public still believe perpetrators are strangers, whereas in reality, the vast majority are known and trusted by victims, including family members.

Stigma and secrecy: Fear of damaging family reputation and distrust in the confidentiality of reporting procedures are considered major barriers to victims seeking help.
To effectively address these issues, the project subsequently held an interactive workshop utilizing the forum theatre model, which deeply analyzed two main scenarios: the threat of online deception and issues of power imbalance in the workplace. Debrief sessions were held after each activity, providing guidance on when to appropriately use national support services, such as Talian ANAK 121, Talian Kebajikan 141, and Talian Harapan 145.
Therefore, the core focus of this project is to combat sexual threats against vulnerable groups, especially psychological manipulation and abuse of power, while raising public awareness of cybersecurity, cybercrime, fraud, and abuse of trust by those in positions of authority.
About 100 participants took part in the project, including government officials and staff, as well as community mobilizers recognized under the National Framework on Child Protection (NFCP), such as students, parents, youth leaders, religious and community leaders.
This project represents a strategic initiative that supports the country's "Family First" policy. It also aligns with the goals of the Brunei National Mental Health Plan (NFCP), the social blueprint, and the National Multisectoral Mental Health Action Plan to strengthen the community's psychosocial well-being.
