Netanyahu: Israel and U.S. Considering 'Alternative Options' to Secure Release of Detainees

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu stated on the 25th that Israel and the United States are considering 'alternative options' to secure the release of Israeli detainees held in Gaza and to end Hamas' rule in the region.

In a statement, he echoed U.S. Middle East envoy Whitekoff, claiming that Hamas is the obstacle to reaching an agreement for the release of detainees.

He pointed out that in order to bring the detainees home, end Hamas' rule in Gaza, and ensure 'lasting peace' for Israel and the region, Israel and the U.S. are considering several 'alternative options.'

However, Netanyahu did not specify what these 'alternative options' would entail.

Israel Allows Jordan and Others to Airdrop Aid into Gaza

Additionally, according to reports from Israeli media on the 25th, Israel will allow Jordan and the UAE to resume airdropping humanitarian aid into Gaza.

The Times of Israel reported that the 'Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories'—the Israeli defense ministry office responsible for coordinating delivery of aid to Gaza—said it was coordinating the airdrops with the Israel Defense Forces.

Responding to this, Hamas Gaza spokesperson Tawabta said that airdropped supplies would not help Gaza residents who are starving under Israeli siege.

Tawabta stated: 'What Gaza needs is not an air show, but an open humanitarian corridor and a steady number of aid trucks arriving each day.'

Currently, famine is worsening in Gaza. Multiple countries and international aid organizations have condemned the Israeli blockade for creating a 'humanitarian catastrophe.' United Nations officials said on the 24th of this month that in Gaza City in northern Gaza, one out of every five children is malnourished.
