On the 15th, the Phnom Penh city government in Cambodia dismantled a scam hideout and lawfully arrested three Chinese male suspects. The apartment involved has now been temporarily sealed off by police.

Authorities stated that relevant parties will continue to strictly crack down on online fraud and other transnational criminal activities, in order to effectively maintain social order and public safety.

This is one of the latest results of Cambodia's efforts to combat online fraud and other transnational crimes. On the 14th of this month, the Phnom Penh city government, in cooperation with multiple law enforcement units, raided a telecom fraud hideout in the city and arrested 234 suspects on the spot, including 149 Vietnamese nationals and 85 Cambodian nationals.

Earlier on July 15th, Cambodian Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Committee to Fight Online Fraud, Hun Manet, convened provincial governors, chiefs of police, and military police commanders to specifically study and deploy actions against online fraud.

The day before, Hun Manet had ordered a nationwide operation, mobilizing all law enforcement agencies and armed forces, including special forces, and pledged to sweep out online fraud hideouts scattered across the country.

At the same time, he warned that officials who fail to act will be dismissed.
