On the 15th, US President Trump announced on the social media platform 'Truth Social' that the United States will impose a 19% tariff on all imported Indonesian goods, while US exports to Indonesia will enjoy tariff-free and non-tariff barrier treatment.
Trump stated that after discussions with Indonesian President Prabowo, the two sides reached an important agreement. According to this 'landmark agreement,' Indonesia will 'for the first time open its entire market to the United States.'
He added that, as part of the agreement, Indonesia committed to purchasing US energy worth $15 billion (about 63.742 billion ringgit), US agricultural products worth $4.5 billion, and 50 Boeing aircraft—'many of which are 777 models.'
Previously, Trump had sent a letter to Indonesia, notifying that the US would impose a 32% tariff on Indonesian goods starting from August 1.
