(Kepong, 14th) If PAS Deputy President Dato’ Seri Tuan Ibrahim is sincere about introducing Chinese and Tamil subjects in national schools, DAP’s Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng urges PAS to “lead by example” and immediately implement it in PAS’s own kindergartens (PASTI).
"If PAS does not dare start with schools under its own control, Tuan Ibrahim’s suggestion has no sincerity and is merely a show."
In a statement today, Lim Lip Eng pointed out that what’s even more laughable is that Tuan Ibrahim seems completely unaware that Chinese and Tamil are already supplementary subjects in national schools. "A senior politician with many years of experience doesn’t understand such a basic fact about the education system? Or is he pretending to be ignorant and deliberately creating false issues to stir up racial sentiments?"
"I just want to ask, is this the new stance of PAS, or is it merely Tuan Ibrahim’s empty talk? If it’s just a personal stance, please don’t misuse education issues for attention; if it is really PAS’s official stance, then immediately implement it in PASTI—don’t only ask others to do it but shy away yourself."
He stressed that children’s education should not be reduced to a cheap political tool.
