On March 28, a strong earthquake struck Myanmar, causing a 30-story building under construction in Bangkok, Thailand, to collapse, resulting in significant casualties. The Thai court has now issued arrest warrants for 17 people involved in the case.
The rescue operations at the Auditor General's building have concluded. Thai authorities have recovered 89 bodies from the rubble of the collapsed building, with 7 people still missing.
AFP reported that on the 15th, the chief of the Bangkok police force, Siam, stated that the Thai court issued the arrest warrants for three groups related to the collapse of the under-construction national auditor's building, comprising a total of 17 people.
In April, relevant units conducted preliminary tests on the steel bars recovered from the site and found that some of the metal materials did not meet standards.
According to an earlier report by the Bangkok Post, Thai police were preparing to apply for the arrest of 17 involved individuals, including engineers, project management, and senior executives of construction contractors.
Police have only released the identity of one person, the former chairman of Italy-Thai Development Company (ITD), Benchai.
Italy-Thai Development Company has held meetings with investors and stated that it is cooperating with the investigation. This company, in joint venture with China Railway No. 10 Bureau Group Co., Ltd's Thailand branch, won the contract to build the Thai Auditor General's building in 2020.
