(Manila, 4th) Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Brauner, stated on the 4th of this month that the Philippine Navy and Indian Navy's first joint patrol activity concluded smoothly, without any unexpected incidents and with positive results.

This two-day joint patrol operation began on August 3, taking place in the disputed West Philippine Sea (the Philippine term for the South China Sea). During a brief media interview on the 4th, Brauner said: "So far, the results are good; we have achieved the exercise's established objectives."

He further stated: "This joint patrol in cooperation with the Indian Navy is being held for the first time, and we did not encounter any adverse incidents."

Although several Chinese vessels "trailed" the joint fleet during the exercise, Brauner emphasized that this was anticipated and did not affect the patrol process.

The Indian naval task force participating in this joint patrol was from the Eastern Fleet, including the missile destroyer INS Mysore (D-60), the anti-submarine corvette INS Kiltan (P-30), and the replenishment ship INS Shakti (A-57). The three ships arrived in Manila last week for a visit and subsequently took part in this exercise.

It is reported that Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has departed for India on the 4th to begin a five-day state visit, aiming to deepen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
