Cai Peixuan and her close friend Wu Tianyu go head-to-head on screen for the first time in the web drama “Final Battle 1212”, playing professional rivals who can’t stand each other. She laughed and said that the two have an incredibly good relationship in private and never get the chance to quarrel. This time, thanks to their roles, they had a rare opportunity to openly ‘trash talk’ each other in front of the camera, which made her exclaim: “Arguing is such a thrill!”
Cai Peixuan said the two have known each other for years, often traveling together, attending classes, and taking their kids out to play. They never have a chance to argue in daily life. Jokingly, she said that through their roles, she was able to vent all those little ‘pent-up grievances’ at once: “How would I dare yell at her in real life? The lines in the drama may be fake, but the emotions are real!” She then earnestly pointed out that they have great chemistry on set: whenever one has heavy scenes, the other will always take care of and support her.
Besides going to ‘battle’ with an old friend, Cai Peixuan also sparked with Chen Heyuan, a first-time actor. She praised his strong ability to learn, his hard work, and said that all the action scenes were done for real.
“Final Battle 1212” is self-written and directed by Monsterz (Li Yongsheng), and will be released online on December 12. At the premiere, Monsterz revealed that he personally handled everything from the script, styling and art direction, to the theme song. When he brought the complete plan to Wu Tianyu—who hadn’t filmed a drama in a long time—he told her: “I’ve got everything ready, it’s just up to whether you dare to take the role.” He originally thought it would take 45 minutes to discuss, but the two ended up chatting for three and a half hours and immediately agreed to work together.
Wu Tianyu, currently in Switzerland, appeared via video. She admitted that filming 18 episodes in three days was extremely stressful, and revealed that in order to fully immerse herself in the role, she and Cai Peixuan deliberately checked into a hotel to ‘go into isolation’ before filming. She also expressed her hope that “Final Battle 1212” will have an outstanding performance so that there will be a Season 2!
Making his short drama debut, Wen Shaoping said he immediately agreed to the role since he hadn’t worked with Wu Tianyu and Cai Peixuan in ages; he also joked that Monsterz didn’t tell him beforehand that his character would be ‘such a jerk.’
