MY FM DJ "Small Eyes" Bing Yun has released his very first solo single, "Who's Here". The lyrics were written by him, and the composition was done by Firdhaus. Firdhaus laughed and said that he came up with the melody while in the bathroom, spending half an hour there, and even recorded the demo in his home bathroom: "The echo you hear is actually the echo from my bathroom."
Bing Yun revealed the song originated from an impromptu creation when Firdhaus was a guest on his YouTube show "Bing Yun, Who’s Here". Later, Bing Yun mustered up the courage to contact Firdhaus’s team, hoping to complete the song. That eventually led to their collaboration. During the launch event, Firdhaus, dressed in formal attire, immediately teased Bing Yun’s outfit the moment he got on stage: "Who releases a song dressed like that? Could you be a bit more formal next time?" causing the audience to burst into laughter.
Speaking of the collaboration, Firdhaus joked that he has a "people-pleaser personality," so he couldn’t bring himself to turn down a friend's request for a song. He even laughed and said, "I didn’t charge Bing Yun a cent from start to finish." As for Bing Yun’s vocal performance, he didn’t give a direct evaluation, only saying that the recording might not be the most perfect version: "After he has sung it live more, becomes more familiar, and connects more deeply with the song, he’ll keep getting better. I’m looking forward to his future performances."
Bing Yun admitted that he has dreamed of being a singer since he was a child, having entered countless singing competitions but always got eliminated in the first round. After becoming a DJ, he felt even more distant from a singer’s identity, since there are so many talented singers around him and he didn’t dare take that step lightly. Being able to finally fulfill his dream, besides thanking Firdhaus for writing the song, he also expressed gratitude to his vocal coach Huang Fanshuo for constantly encouraging and guiding him, giving him the courage to finally complete this piece.
He said that "Who's Here" is like a letter to himself, but also dedicated to everyone striving and progressing on the path of growth. As for how he’d rate the song and MV, he answered without the slightest coyness: "I give myself 100 points for the courage to release the song!" He also joked that the real challenge wasn’t making the song, but the constant back-and-forth and adjustments throughout the process, "That’s what truly puts you to the test."
