A horrifying case occurred in Toda City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. A 57-year-old man is suspected of leaving his father’s body in the house for a prolonged period without handling it, living as if nothing was wrong alongside the corpse, and was recently arrested by police. Even more shocking, when police arrived, they discovered another body in the house, believed to be the man’s uncle. Authorities are currently clarifying the details and the cause of death.
According to NTV NEWS24, Saitama police revealed that the arrested man, 57-year-old unemployed Riiichi Hagiwara, is suspected of abandoning a male body believed to be his father in his home in Bijogi, Toda City. He has been arrested on suspicion of abandoning a corpse.
The report noted that recently, relatives of the Hagiwara family informed police, saying, “Some relatives have been out of touch for years and cannot be reached.” Upon receiving the report, local police went to the residence to check. Unexpectedly, upon entering the house, officers found two male bodies separately in two rooms on the first floor.
Preliminary police inspection showed no obvious trauma on either body, but it is presumed they had been dead for quite some time. The exact cause of death is still pending further examination and confirmation. Investigation revealed that Riiichi Hagiwara had originally lived at this residence with his 89-year-old father and 94-year-old uncle. Police currently believe the two bodies found in the house are likely his elderly relatives, but further identification is needed to confirm their identities.
During the investigation, Riiichi Hagiwara has admitted to the crime, stating, “It’s true that I abandoned the corpses.” Police are now working to determine the exact time and cause of death for both victims, as well as whether there is involvement in other criminal matters.
