Audience with UN FAO Director-General: Sultan Urges Sustainable Food Development

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 24th) His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei last night received Dr. Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization and the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) delegation.
During the audience, His Majesty emphasized the importance of innovation, adapting to climate change, and strengthening regional cooperation to develop a more sustainable and competitive food sector to achieve self-sufficiency, noting that this is crucial not only for Brunei but for the entire Asia-Pacific region.
In addition, His Majesty welcomed the FAO’s cooperation and assistance in the fields of agriculture and aquaculture, considering it to be in line with efforts to achieve sustainable development of the food sector.
Dr. Qu Dongyu’s visit is to attend the 38th Ministerial Session of the Asia-Pacific Regional Conference (APRC), to be held in Brunei from April 23 to 24, 2026.
Also present at the audience were: Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, Dato Manap; Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, Dato Mohd Riza; and Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, Tutiyati.
