Enhancing Competitiveness and Security: The Sultan of Brunei Emphasizes Economic Resilience

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 24th) His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei stated that coping with the increasingly dynamic economic and energy landscape is crucial, especially in facing challenges posed by geopolitical instability. At the same time, in order to protect long-term value, maintaining competitiveness, resilience, and flexibility is also indispensable.
The Sultan delivered a royal address at the 418th Board Meeting of Brunei Shell Petroleum Company (BSP) and the 196th Board Meeting of Brunei Shell Marketing Company (BSM).
This meeting was held at the Prime Minister's Office of Brunei, with the meeting agenda covering the first quarter of 2026.
His Majesty emphasized that it is necessary to continue to prioritize safety, efficient leadership, and capacity development, including strengthening talent cultivation, enhancing organizational capability, and building a high-performance work culture.

His Majesty stated that prioritizing this work is crucial for ensuring long-term sustainable development and supporting the nation's vision.
Previously, upon arrival, His Majesty was welcomed by Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy, Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, as well as Deputy Minister (Energy) at the Prime Minister's Office, Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo Sokiaw, both of whom are board members of Brunei Shell Petroleum Company and Brunei Shell Marketing Company.
The meeting also discussed the operational, safety, financial, and human resources development performance of BSP and BSM.
Attendees included government shareholders, directors, stakeholders from the Brunei Shell companies, as well as leadership of BSP and BSM.
This meeting marked the conclusion of the Board of Directors meetings for the first quarter of 2026 of the Brunei Shell Joint Venture companies (BSJV).
