Learn to Analyze, Don’t Blindly Follow Trends – Tiong King Sing Encourages Youth to Think Independently

(Kuching, 12th) Dato Sri Tiong King Sing encourages young people to learn to analyze and verify information instead of blindly following online trends.
He recently posted on Facebook, sharing his experience attending the 2026 JCI Malaysia Sarawak Area Convention and Awards Luncheon. The event was held on the 10th of this month, bringing together young leaders and social advocates from different backgrounds to celebrate the values of leadership, dedication, and serving the community.
Tiong, who is also the Dudong assemblyman and Bintulu MP, stated that as racial and religious issues become increasingly sensitive, young people must become a force for unity, promoting mutual respect, rational thinking, and self-improvement—especially in diverse societies like Sarawak and Malaysia.
"In today's rapidly changing world, technological development, economic opportunities, and global connectivity continue to increase, but at the same time, society faces rising living costs, unstable employment, mental health challenges, and the gradual erosion of shared values."

He said that as the backbone of national development, youth must possess leadership, a sense of discipline and responsibility, and the right mindset for growth and success.
Tiong also reminded that success cannot be achieved overnight, and results may not be immediate, but continuous effort will ultimately bring progress.
He stated that young people should not only pursue a comfortable life or material achievements, but also be willing to learn, face challenges, and continuously improve themselves, because blindly pursuing superficial glamour, overconsumption, or living beyond one’s means will only lead to unnecessary long-term stress.
"The government will continue to support youth development through education, skills training, entrepreneurship development, and community empowerment initiatives," he said.
