The Mandarin pop diva Coco Lee tragically passed away three years ago, her life forever frozen at 48 years old, breaking countless fans’ hearts. However, the controversy surrounding the cause of her death has not subsided. On June 24, Coco Lee’s will executor formally filed a lawsuit with the Hong Kong court, suing her former psychiatrist, two paramedics, and the Hong Kong Fire Services Department for alleged medical and rescue negligence, seeking compensation from all four parties. The case has been scheduled for formal hearing on December 7.
The statement of claim points out that the first defendant is Wang Ying Shan, Coco Lee’s psychiatrist before her death. The plaintiff accuses her of negligence during the period from August 25, 2022 to June 23, 2023, both in person at her clinic and via teleconsultation. Additionally, the other two defendants are the paramedics who, in 2023, were responsible for transferring Coco Lee from her Barker Road villa to Queen Mary Hospital for emergency treatment; the plaintiff believes their emergency rescue also involved negligence, and that the Hong Kong Fire Services Department, as the governing body of the two paramedics, must also bear legal responsibility.
Reviewing the incident, reports indicate that at the time, Coco Lee was seen by her domestic helper running out of the bathroom with a bleeding hand. She was then escorted by her sister and transported by ambulance to Queen Mary Hospital for emergency treatment, but sadly, was ultimately pronounced dead, bringing an end to the legacy of the diva. Now her will executor has angrily filed a lawsuit, seeking to pursue through legal channels the responsibility of both renowned medical professionals and frontline emergency personnel, causing this sensational tragedy to once again draw public attention.
