59-year-old Choi Yick-kit, a member of the male group “Grasshopper”, shocked everyone in 2024 when he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor and underwent brain surgery, making his health status the focus of much attention ever since. Recently, Grasshopper held a concert tour in Singapore, attracting a large crowd of fans. Choi Yick-kit even shared a video clip on his personal social media after the show ended. Facing his passionate fans, Choi Yick-kit showed no airs at all and did his best to fulfill fans’ requests.
The video shows Choi Yick-kit looking energetic, with a rosy complexion—showing no signs that he is currently fighting cancer. Throughout his interaction with the fans, he smiled brightly. He took out his phone to take close-up selfies with fans, and was happy to respond to all fans’ requests for hugs, just like greeting friends, giving off a very approachable vibe. In another part of the clip, he picked up a marker and signed directly on the back of a male fan’s T-shirt, joking, “Don’t wash it!” which sparked laughter all around. In addition, when he encountered a young fan, Choi Yick-kit gently patted the child on the head and gave them a hug, thoughtfully reminding the fan to take care, showing genuine warmth to his supporters.
The enthusiastic fans have become Choi Yick-kit's strongest source of spiritual support in his fight against illness. He wrote movingly, “Meeting again in this life is a gift from heaven. Because of you all, I have the strength to become even stronger. Thank you, love you all. #grateful.” In fact, with remarkable willpower, Choi Yick-kit pulled through a tough recovery and made a miraculous return to perform at the Hong Kong Coliseum, successfully completing multiple shows in his best shape.
