Maureen, the U.S. federal prosecutor who handled the 'head-of-state level pimp' Epstein case, was suddenly dismissed.
U.S. political news outlet Politico published messages Maureen sent to former colleagues, in which she mentioned she was 'immediately dismissed' by the Department of Justice without cause. Maureen encouraged them not to become victims of fear.
Maureen said: 'If a career prosecutor can be dismissed without cause, fear could infiltrate the decisions of those who remain. Don’t let that happen. Fear is the tool of tyrants.'
The U.S. Department of Justice, when asked, refused to confirm whether Maureen was dismissed and stated it would not comment on personnel matters.
Maureen is the daughter of former FBI director Comey. She had served in the prosecutor’s office for 10 years and was relieved of her duties as Assistant U.S. Attorney for Manhattan on the 16th. The week before Maureen's dismissal, the Justice Department confirmed it had initiated an unspecified criminal investigation into her father, Comey.
U.S. President Trump is currently under increasing pressure from the public to release investigation materials related to Epstein. Epstein was charged with sex trafficking and committed suicide in a New York jail in 2019. Maureen was one of the prosecutors handling the Epstein case.
