Hamas: Willing to Reach Comprehensive Ceasefire Agreement but Israel Refuses

On the 18th, Abu Obeida, spokesperson for the Qassam Brigades, Hamas' armed wing, delivered a video statement saying that Hamas has, over the past several months, repeatedly proposed a comprehensive agreement, expressing willingness to release all detainees at once in order to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, but this was rejected by the Israeli government.

Obeida pointed out that it is clear the Netanyahu government does not prioritize the release of detainees.

He stated that Hamas is striving to reach an agreement to end Israel's war against the Palestinian people, ensure the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, and bring aid supplies to the people of Gaza. If Israel obstructs or withdraws from the current round of negotiations, Hamas cannot guarantee its support for an agreement on a partial ceasefire or agree to the prior release of 10 detainees.

Since the 6th, Hamas and Israel have been holding a new round of indirect talks in Doha, Qatar, seeking to reach a 60-day ceasefire agreement, which includes the release of 10 detainees and the return of the bodies of several other detainees. Due to major differences between the two parties on issues such as Israel's withdrawal plan and whether it will lead to a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire, the negotiations have yet to make significant progress.
