Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao said that the previous four rounds of China-US economic and trade consultations have fully demonstrated that China and the US can find ways to address each other's concerns.
Wang Wentao stated at a press conference on the 24th that as a responsible major country, China has always opposed 'decoupling and breaking supply chains' and is committed to maintaining the security and stability of global industrial and supply chains.
He said: "The previous four rounds of China-US economic and trade consultations have fully demonstrated that, on the basis of mutual respect and equal consultation, China and the US can fully find solutions to address each other's concerns, find the correct way to get along, and promote the healthy, stable and sustainable development of China-US economic and trade relations."
China and the US previously held four rounds of trade consultations in Geneva, London, Stockholm, and Madrid. The latest round of trade talks between both sides began on the 24th in Malaysia, led by He Lifeng, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council.
Recently, due to China's announcement to tighten export controls on rare earths and mutual imposition of port fees by the US and China, the China-US trade dispute has further escalated.
US Trade Representative Greer and Treasury Secretary Bessent arrived in Kuala Lumpur on the 22nd. Bessent already revealed in an earlier interview that they would meet with Chinese officials in Malaysia, striving to resolve the issue of China's rare earth export controls before the 'Tè-Xí Meeting.'
