(Kunming, 29th) The Brunei Fuzhou Shiyi Association Youth Group, led by group leader Xu Biya, successfully completed a high-altitude trekking challenge at Meili Snow Mountain in Yunnan, China. The five-member team reached both the Ice Lake (altitude 3,900 meters) and the Sacred Waterfall (altitude 3,600 meters).
The team will descend the mountain and return to Lijiang tomorrow, bringing a successful close to this 8-day, 7-night mountaineering adventure.
The team members include: group leader Xu Biya, vice leaders Qian Lunxuan and Gan Jinghao, youth group welfare officer Liu Yiling, and member Liu Xiwen. They made two altitude acclimatization rounds in the high-altitude environment, overcoming numerous challenges such as altitude sickness, low temperatures, and slippery mountain trails. In the end, all members completed their goals safely.
In an interview, Xu Biya said that this 8-day, 7-night climbing experience was very different from previous ones.
“We climbed in varying temperatures, advancing with caution. Every step was extremely challenging and had to be taken with extra care.”
She pointed out that the team needed to repeatedly acclimatize to the high-altitude conditions, which was a great test of both physical strength and willpower. Fortunately, the team looked out for each other and stayed united, finally completing the mission safely and successfully.
It is worth mentioning that over the past few years, the team has previously climbed Mount Kinabalu in Malaysia, Mount Rinjani in Indonesia, and Mount Fuji in Japan, accumulating rich high-altitude trekking experience. This journey to Meili Snow Mountain has not only further honed the team's coordination and adaptability, but also showcased the youth members' spirit of challenge and perseverance.
On behalf of the youth group, Xu Biya also expressed gratitude to the president, deputy president, vice presidents, all committee members, as well as the women's group and colleagues from all sectors, thanking everyone for their care and support. She stated that the youth group will continue to uphold a proactive spirit, plan more meaningful outdoor developmental activities, and encourage more young people to participate in healthy, positive physical challenges and nature exploration.
This successful summit and safe return marks another valuable practical experience for the youth group in the field of high-altitude trekking and lays a solid foundation for even more challenging mountaineering plans in the future.
