(Bandar Seri Begawan, 30th) The Ministry of Religious Affairs (KHEU), through its Syariah Affairs Department, has issued a notice stating that its Halal Food Control Section received complaints questioning the Halal certification of the San Remo brand “La Pasta Carbonara Flavour Pasta and Sauce” sold at a certain supermarket.

In response, the Ministry of Health’s Scientific Services Department has conducted laboratory analysis of this product and, on January 19, 2026, issued test results confirming the presence of pork DNA in the product.
Therefore, to safeguard the welfare of Brunei’s Muslim community, the Syariah Affairs Department hereby reminds that owners of supermarkets, retail stores, and other business premises selling the San Remo brand “La Pasta Carbonara Flavour Pasta and Sauce” pasta and sauce products, manufactured by San Remo Macaroni Co. Pty Ltd of Australia (address: 4 Boden Court Windsor Gardens SA, 5087, Australia), within Brunei must immediately isolate these products and place them in areas of the store inaccessible to the Muslim community.

In addition, the Ministry of Religious Affairs also reminds all owners, managers, entrepreneurs, traders, importers, suppliers, and distributors to remain vigilant and exercise greater caution in all aspects of handling non-Halal products and goods, including their import, storage in warehouses or storage areas, transportation, internal processing, and sales at commercial premises.
These measures are aimed at ensuring the complete separation of non-halal products from halal ones, avoiding cross-contamination, and preventing the public, especially the Muslim community, from accidentally consuming non-halal products.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Religious Affairs expresses its sincere gratitude to the public for providing information regarding this matter. For complaints or to report the open sale of non-halal products at commercial premises, please call the Syariah Affairs Department’s Halal Food Control Section hotline at +673 7166222, or visit any Halal Food Control Section office in any district.
