(Bandar Seri Begawan, 13th) Vendors at Jerudong Beach parking lot are required to clearly and correctly display price tags in accordance with the 'Price Control Order (Price Tag Display)'.
This recommendation was made by the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics under the Consumer Affairs Division of the Ministry of Finance and Economy during an inspection, aiming to facilitate consumers in comparing prices and making informed purchasing decisions.
Inspection results revealed that more than 15 stalls (selling fruits, vegetables, dried goods, and various other products) were found lacking price tags, with some vendors failing to display price tags and others only displaying them on some products.
For these violations, the relevant vendors have received explanations and guidance, emphasizing the importance of the clear and correct display of prices for all products.
This inspection is one of a series of ongoing supervisory checks carried out to protect consumer rights, aiming to ensure price transparency among vendors and foster an ethical and transparent business environment, as well as to raise merchants’ awareness of and compliance with the 'Price Control Order (Price Tag Display)' under the Price Control Act (Chapter 142).
The authorities will conduct a series of unscheduled supervisory inspections of stalls and customers to ensure adherence to the 'Price Control Order (Price Tag Display)'. According to Section 10A of the Price Control Act (Chapter 142), repeated violations for failure to display price tags may result in a fine of up to $1,000.
Any complaints or inquiries regarding price tag displays can be submitted by email (aduanpengguna@jpes.gov.bn) or via the Darussalam Hotline 123, with photos or other supporting documents attached for JPES to conduct further investigations.
