LINGGA: The construction of the Batang Lingga Bridge has now reached 99 per cent completion and is expected to be fully completed by this September.
Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development, Datuk Ir Aidel Lariwoo, said that construction works on the road from Batang Lupar Bridge to Batang Lingga Bridge and onward to Batang Lupar 2 Bridge in Sri Aman are currently in full swing.
He said the route from Batang Lingga Bridge to Batang Lupar 2 Bridge covers a distance of about 35 kilometres, while the stretch from Batang Lupar Bridge to Batang Lingga Bridge is about 28 kilometres.
He added that the Sebuyau-Lingga Road is expected to be completed by December 2027.
“This entire project is part of the Second Trunk Road network that stretches from the Sejingkat Bridge to the Betong/Lidong Junction.
“Once completed, it will shorten travel distances and improve traffic flow,” he said during a working visit to the Batang Lingga Bridge project site here on Tuesday.
He also shared plans for the construction of several new bridges, including the Batang Sadong 2 Bridge, which will connect the dual carriageway from the Batang Lupar Bridge to the Batang Sadong Bridge, as well as several iconic bridges in strategic locations across Sarawak.
Earlier, he received a project status briefing at the Sri Aman Division Public Works Department (PWD) Office.
He urged that projects which have yet to begin be expedited for the benefit of local residents.
