Thailand Plans to Raise International Flight Departure Tax to 1,120 Baht

At a meeting on the 3rd, Thailand’s Civil Aviation Committee gave preliminary approval to Airports of Thailand (AOT) to raise the Passenger Service Charge (PSC) for international flight departures from 730 baht to 1,120 baht per person (approximately 144.62 ringgit), while the domestic flight charge will remain at 130 baht.

This adjustment is expected to take effect in early 2026, specifically four months after its final approval and public announcement.

The Civil Aviation Committee indicated that this increase follows international practice and aims to support the costs of airport modernization projects.

The meeting was chaired by Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Phiphat, who also serves as the chairman of the Civil Aviation Committee.

AOT is required to submit supplementary documents for review to the Civil Aviation Authority, solicit feedback from interested parties, provide a detailed explanation for the fee increase, and obtain final approval from the Minister of Transport. AOT must also issue a public notice at least four months in advance before implementing the new fee standards.

AOT operates Suvarnabhumi Airport, Don Mueang Airport, Phuket Airport, Chiang Mai Airport, Chiang Rai Airport, and Hat Yai Airport.
