According to a report by Korean police on Wednesday, the Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency conducted a search and seizure operation at Starbucks Korea's headquarters in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, on Wednesday morning.

This is the first time the police have conducted a search and seizure regarding this incident at Starbucks. The reason for applying for the search and seizure warrant was suspicion of insult and related charges.

From May 15 to 26, Starbucks Korea held a tumbler promotion event, and on May 18, the 46th anniversary of the May 18 Democratic Uprising, used a controversial advertising slogan that was accused of insulting the movement and martyr Park Jong-cheol. Those who contributed to the May 18 Democratic Uprising and related civic groups filed accusations and complaints against relevant Starbucks officials for allegedly violating the “Special Act on the May 18 Democratization Movement”, insult, defamation and other charges.
