Kim Ji-soo (Jisoo) of popular Korean girl group “BLACKPINK” is facing controversy as her 37-year-old older brother, Kim Jung-hoon, is embroiled in a domestic violence scandal. Sister-in-law ‘A’ has publicly accused her husband online of severe physical abuse, sexual assault, and mistreatment, resulting in her weight dropping to 34 kg. The public questioned whether it was possible for Jisoo to be unaware, speculating that her inaction could make her an accomplice. On the 20th, she broke her silence, expressing a firm position through her agency that she was “unaware” of the situation.
The management company emphasized that the artist has no connection to her brother’s private life or illegal behavior, warning that legal action will be taken against those maliciously linking the two. The statement clarified that since her trainee days, Jisoo has lived independently, separate from her family, and “cannot confirm or participate in” her brother’s private life. Her personal career is also unconnected to family matters. The company stressed that neither Jisoo nor the company has ever provided financial or legal support to Kim Jung-hoon and has no plans to do so in the future, nor have they had any involvement or intervention in the case. Kim Jung-hoon has also never participated in the management of the company.
Previously, ‘A’ clarified that Jisoo was not aware of her brother's terrible acts. It is, in fact, the older generation that wishes to quickly settle the matter, leaving the sister-in-law feeling deeply distressed and isolated.
Sister-in-law Deletes All Exposé Posts
On the 20th, ‘A’ not only deleted all related accusations from her IG, but also updated her personal status and uploaded a photo of herself holding a soju glass, writing, “This is medicine, this is food, this is sleeping pills,” hinting that she is still under considerable mental and physical stress. This move has been interpreted by observers as signaling a new phase in handling the incident, or possibly a turn toward private settlement.
