33-year-old WINNER member Song Min-ho has been indicted for violating the Military Service Act due to negligence during his alternative service, with the case opening its first hearing at the Seoul Western District Court on the morning of the 21st. Song Min-ho admitted to the related charges when appearing in court, and afterwards bowed his head outside the court to apologize to the media, saying: “I have let so many people down, I’m truly sorry.” He also stated that he is currently “reflecting on his actions.” It is understood that prosecutors have specifically sought a sentence of 1 year and 6 months in prison for Song Min-ho.
Between March 2023 and December 2024, Song Min-ho served as a social service worker fulfilling his alternative service obligation at an institution in Mapo-gu, Seoul. He was found to have repeatedly failed to report for duty in accordance with regulations and was caught leaving his post unauthorized multiple times. According to the disclosed indictment, Song Min-ho was required to serve 430 days, of which he failed to serve properly on 102 days—close to a quarter of the total—drawing considerable criticism after news of this was made public.
