Accused of Defrauding 2.16 Million, Victor Wong Issues First Response: The Innocent Need Not Fear

Malaysian singer Victor Wong (Pin Guan) was accused in 2024 by Dr. Chiu Rui-ling’s wife of soliciting an investment with promises of up to 500% returns, and allegedly absconding with NT$17.4 million (about RM2.16 million) without follow-up. Victor Wong countered by accusing Ms. Chiu of sending men in black to his home to intimidate him, and of malicious defamation through the media. Both sides filed mutual accusations for fraud and violations of the Personal Data Protection Act.

After investigation, the Taipei District Prosecutors Office determined that Ms. Chiu invested based on advice from others and that Victor Wong was not involved. Moreover, Victor Wong was unable to prove that Ms. Chiu was involved in intimidation or leaking personal information. On the 2nd, the prosecution decided not to indict either party.

On the evening of the 3rd, Victor Wong made a post on Facebook stating that the Taipei District Prosecutors Office’s decision not to prosecute clearly shows that Ms. Chiu’s accusations of him personally soliciting and recruiting her for investment, and her insinuations to certain media that he embezzled her investment funds, are all untrue and groundless. Through his post, Victor Wong thanked the fans and friends who had believed in him along the way, and expressed that he was sorry for causing everyone concern during this period. “Please be assured, in order to defend my own innocence, I will do my utmost. At the same time, I believe the innocent need not fear, and those who are corrupt will be exposed.” Victor Wong concluded, “I believe justice will ultimately prevail.”
