Little Brothers Can't Afford Bread—Takuya Kimura's Kind Gesture Praised as 'Successful Fatherhood'

Japanese drama superstar Takuya Kimura recently visited the 'Yanesen' area of Tokyo to film a YouTube program, accompanied by a magazine planner. While filming at a well-known local bakery, he happened to meet a pair of young brothers. The older brother had brought his younger brother to buy bread, but only had enough money to pay for his sibling. Witnessing this, Kimura spontaneously decided to cover the brother’s shortfall, earning widespread praise from netizens for his heartwarming act.

That day, Kimura was tasting the famous 'Lion Bread' of the Yanesen area with the chief editor of magazine 'Strolling Master', when he encountered the brothers. The older brother asked the shopkeeper about the price—one bun cost 250 yen (about RM7)—but he only had enough money for his little brother, with just 200 yen (about RM5.7) left for himself. Kimura asked, “Did you bring your little brother to buy bread? What about you?” The brother replied, “But I only have 200…” So Kimura said, “You have 200, right? I’ll cover the rest!”

This action earned him a flurry of praise online, with many saying, “Kimura totally had the means to pay for everything, but he considered the boys’ feelings and respected their father,” “This is the goodwill and consideration of an adult, without spoiling the children,” and “This reflects Kimura’s parenting values, which is why he could raise two outstanding daughters.”
