Following the success of the 2025 Lunar New Year release "Guan Ni Tea House" which swept the box office with RM12.7 million and entered the top three highest-grossing local Chinese films in Malaysian history, Malaysia's most familiar comedy team Dissy rides the momentum and has announced a brand new satirical comedy, "Parasite Below," aiming to conquer the 2026 Malaysian Lunar New Year box office.
The leads of 'Parasite Below' Adeline (from left), Sang Bill, director Cheong Wei Chen, and producer Mu Ren.
"Parasite Below" is created by the original team behind "Guan Ni Tea House," directed by Cheong Wei Chen (Old Cheong), with Mark Lee lending his strong support again, and starring Dissy actors including Sang Bill, Da Hee, Mu Ren, Anthony, Jin Chen Wu, Adeline, Yuriko, Yuniyce, Zuvia, Michie, and Judy, who will once again showcase their acting skills.
Mark Lee once again supports local movies, with director Old Cheong saying his role in 'Parasite Below' is a big challenge.
Dissy founder and film producer Mu Ren shared his box office aspirations at the press conference: "We’ve always felt that the great box office results of 'Guan Ni Tea House' were a stroke of luck, so we want to work even harder on this one. With the support of some financial backers, we are setting a box office target of RM7 million for 'Parasite Below'—honestly, if we hit RM5 million it will be reason enough to celebrate."
Sang Bill admits that the 'ten-million box office' male lead aura is a thing of the past.
Sang Bill: 'Ten-Million Box Office' Leading Man is the Past

"Parasite Below" tells the story of an ordinary young man with big city dreams, who gets innocently entangled in a struggle between gangsters and the police, with betrayal and conspiracies coming one after another. Once again shouldering the responsibility of playing the leading man, Sang Bill frankly said, the "ten-million box office" lead aura is a thing of the past, and now it’s a fresh start. “Honestly, there’s pressure with any role, but this time the character is more fun and the topic is fresher, so I’m more excited than stressed.”

Adeline’s Request to Build Chemistry Rejected

As for the leading lady, Adeline—who this time isn't playing a foreign worker—succeeded in taking the main role over Yuriko for the first time. She laughed and said, "Do I need to fight for it?" She also publicly invited Sang Bill to have dinner to build more chemistry, but was gently declined with, "Maybe, let me finish reading the script first." Yuriko, although stepping back to a supporting role, remained confident that her character "has a lot to offer," joking, “It’s okay not to be the leading lady this time, what matters is the perks!”

Da Hee, no longer playing a foreign worker but finally a 'bad guy' role he’s always wanted, was asked by the director to train for six-pack abs. Da Hee laughed, saying the director’s request was too last minute and all he could do was try his best to get his upper body in shape. “If the director had told me three months ago, I’d definitely have made it!”

'All the Way North' Called Off

"Parasite Below" is scheduled to start filming on July 22, and to ensure grand spectacles the cast keeps growing—in preliminary counts, nearly a thousand people will be involved, making it a truly massive undertaking. On another note, regarding the previously planned Lunar New Year film "All the Way North" in collaboration with Lai Yu Han (Jaspers), Mu Ren admitted that due to differences in vision, the project has been called off and production rights have been returned to the Jaspers team.
