A Taiwan Air Force F-16V fighter jet from Hualien base crashed into the sea and has been missing for over a week since the 6th. Both the jet and its black box have now been precisely located in deep waters, and the Taiwanese military has sought assistance from overseas professional teams for recovery operations.

According to Taiwan's Wind Media, the Air Force stated on the 15th that, with the concerted effort of the Ocean Affairs Council, Coast Guard Administration, National Airborne Service Corps, and all three branches of the armed forces, they have detected signals emitted by the F-16V jet’s “crashed residual flight data recorder” (black box) and accomplished accurate positioning. Professional teams will be commissioned for aircraft recovery in the next stage.

The 29-year-old Captain pilot, Hsin Po-yi, who was flying the jet, remains missing. On Thursday, the military said that, regarding personnel search and rescue efforts, naval and air vessels, aircraft, and coast patrol personnel have searched day and night without success and will continue to carry out search missions in the accident area.

In addition, DPP legislator Wang Ting-yu revealed on Facebook Thursday that, according to an Air Force report, the aircraft’s location has been precisely identified and is situated at a considerable depth underwater.

Wang Ting-yu said the search and rescue team is also seeking foreign ships and equipment capable of deep-sea recovery operations, hoping to retrieve the jet and pilot as soon as possible.
