Putin: Russia to Fully Implement Modern Navy Construction Plan

On the 24th, Russian President Putin delivered a speech at the flag-raising ceremony of the "Grand Duke Pozharsky" nuclear-powered submarine in Severodvinsk, Arkhangelsk Oblast, northwestern Russia, stating that Russia will fully implement the plan to build a modern navy to safeguard the country's interests in global waters.

He said: "Currently, there are more than 70 ships at various stages of construction in Russian shipyards. The Severodvinsk shipyard alone plans to build six new nuclear submarines by 2030."

He stated that building strategic missile submarines is a priority for Russia and helps maintain the global balance of power.

On the same day, Putin visited Arkhangelsk Oblast and held a special meeting on the development of the navy's submarine fleet. After the flag-raising ceremony, the "Grand Duke Pozharsky" nuclear-powered submarine officially joined the Russian navy fleet.

The "Grand Duke Pozharsky" nuclear-powered submarine was launched in 2024 and is equipped with modern missile and torpedo weapon systems, navigation systems, radio technology, and sonar weaponry. It belongs to the "Borei-A" class strategic nuclear submarines and will be an important component of the Russian navy's future strategic nuclear forces.
