Weather conditions in southern Thailand have deteriorated rapidly, with many areas expecting heavy rainfall, flash floods, and giant waves. The Meteorological Department urges heightened vigilance.
According to The Thaiger, the Thai Meteorological Department stated that the persistent low-pressure system continues to affect the lower southern region and neighboring Malaysia. The eastern coast, including Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat, will experience heavy rain, localized downpours, and the risk of flash flooding.
"Temperatures will range between 21 and 24°C, and during the day between 25 and 30°C. Maritime conditions are extremely perilous, with waves exceeding 3 meters during thunderstorms."
In addition, the west coast of southern Thailand (Krabi, Trang, Satun) is also set to receive heavy rain, with sea waves reaching up to 2 meters, and even higher during thunderstorms.
Severe Weather Intensifies Nationwide
The Meteorological Department stated that as the northeastern monsoon strengthens, wind and rain will worsen further in the northern Gulf of Thailand, northern Southern Thailand, and the northern Andaman Sea. Coastal areas can expect giant waves of 2 to 3 meters. Small boats are advised to suspend their journeys, and all vessels should avoid storm-affected zones.
Additionally, a cold high-pressure system from China is moving towards northern Vietnam and is expected to spread to Northeast Thailand, resulting in lower temperatures, stronger winds, and cooler weather in many areas of the country.
