Hebei Xingtai’s cliff tunnel road is famous for its ‘narrowness’. It is a tunnel that only allows small vehicles to pass, but recently an uncle actually drove a wide-bodied MPV through it. As a result, after exiting the tunnel, the entire car was scratched up, with a burst tire and a damaged right-side mirror.
According to reports from ‘First Scene’ and ‘Litchi News’, on April 19, an uncle drove an MPV bearing a ‘Gui A’ license plate and forcefully entered Hebei Xingtai’s cliff tunnel road. When he exited the tunnel, the whole vehicle was ‘covered in scars’.
Eyewitness Ms. Wu said that this cliff tunnel road has a ‘visual trap’: the entrance appears relatively wide, which gives people the illusion that they can drive through, but as you proceed, it becomes increasingly narrow. Ordinary small private cars can barely pass or squeeze past another car, but the MPV’s body was obviously too wide, and in the narrow tunnel, there was almost no space to turn around. When the vehicle finally crept out of the opening at the other end, the previously shiny MPV was already all scraped up.
According to video footage and eyewitness accounts, the entire right side of the vehicle was extensively scratched by sharp rocks, and the paint was severely damaged; the right-side rear-view mirror was nowhere to be seen, leaving only exposed wires; under intense squeezing, the tire directly burst. Even though the car was covered in these ‘battle damage’ marks, the uncle was all smiles.
Due to the serious damage, the vehicle could no longer be driven normally, so the uncle ultimately chose to call the police, and arranged for a tow truck to take the ‘battle-damaged’ MPV away for repairs.
According to the introduction, this cliff tunnel road was hand-carved by local villagers along sheer cliffs and is notorious for its precipitousness and narrowness, with a width that only allows small vehicles to pass in a single direction.
