Famous Indian Singer Dies in Diving Accident in Singapore

During his visit to Singapore to attend a music festival, famous Indian male singer Zubeen Garg unfortunately suffered an accident while diving near St John's Island and was pronounced dead despite efforts to revive him in the hospital.

According to Indian media reports, Zubeen Garg experienced sudden breathing difficulties while diving in Singapore on the 19th and could not be saved after being taken to the hospital.

The reports state that Zubeen Garg was in Singapore to participate in the 'Northeast India Festival' held at Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event aimed to promote the culture and products of Northeast India, and he was originally scheduled to perform on the 20th. The organizer later announced the event's cancellation.

Indian Prime Minister Modi expressed his condolences for the deceased on social media platform X, saying that Zubeen made a great contribution to music. “His songs were loved by people from all walks of life. My condolences to his family and admirers.”

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote on social media: “Assam has not just lost a singer, but also a beating heart. Zubeen was not only a singer, he was the pride of Assam as well as the entire country.”

Responding to media queries, the Singapore Police Force said they received a report at about 3:30 pm on the 19th requesting assistance at St John's Island.
