The reports state that Zubeen Garg was in Singapore to participate in the 'Northeast India Festival' held at Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre. Indian Prime Minister Modi expressed his condolences for the deceased on social media platform X, saying that Zubeen made a great contribution to music. “His songs were loved by people from all walks of life. My condolences to his family and admirers.”
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote on social media: “Assam has not just lost a singer, but also a beating heart. Zubeen was not only a singer, he was the pride of Assam as well as the entire country.”
Responding to media queries, the Singapore Police Force said they received a report at about 3:30 pm on the 19th requesting assistance at St John's Island.
