MPs Concerned Over Long-Term Water Supply Issues – 386 Households in Lubok Antu Still Without Connection

(Engkilili, 10th) The long-standing clean water supply issue in Lubok Antu continues to affect rural communities, with 386 households yet to be fully connected to treated water, drawing renewed attention to local infrastructure improvement.
Lubok Antu MP Roy Angau said that this problem is one of the main long-term challenges in the constituency, as many rural areas still rely on untreated river water.
He stated that this situation also raises safety concerns, especially since some residents retrieving water from the river have to face threats from crocodiles.
"I promise I will continue to strive to resolve the clean water supply issue, because in the Lubok Antu parliamentary constituency, 386 houses still have not been fully connected to the water supply."
He made these remarks while attending the "Segulai Sejalai Nuju Pemansang Menoa P.203 Lubok Antu" event held at Rumah Beruin, Tabut Skrang, today.

According to reports from the Sarawak Public Communications Unit, Roy Angau pointed out that the Sarawak government continues to place emphasis on improving rural basic infrastructure, including expanding the coverage of treated water supply to remote areas.
Besides the water supply problem, villagers also reported that low-lying rural roads are often flooded during heavy rain and high tides, affecting daily commuting.
He said that the authorities are also stepping up efforts to develop the livelihoods of rural residents, including providing basic marketing training and online business skills courses to help families increase their income sources.
As part of ongoing development support, he also approved several allocations, including:
· Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) Minor Rural Project (MRP) – RM20,000
· Gerempung Indu allocation – RM8,000
