(Sibu, 19th) The section of the Pan-Borneo Highway in Sarawak under the sixth contract package (WPC06) is now fully open to the public, as stated by Dr. Cassidy Morris, Director of the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR).
WPC06 covers two main sections, namely the Bukit Sebangkoi section and the Sibu section, which includes the Igan Town interchange section.
The official opening of these two sections marks the realization of a full four-lane dual carriageway in the area.
Dr. Cassidy pointed out that this opening is expected to have a positive impact on the smooth flow of traffic, especially as festive celebrations are approaching, and many road users will return to their hometowns to reunite with family.
“I remind everyone to adhere to traffic regulations, including observing speed limits, and use the interchanges correctly to ensure mutual safety,” Dr. Cassidy emphasized during today’s inspection of the Igan Town section.
The full opening of WPC06 reflects the government's commitment to the efficient implementation of the Pan-Borneo Highway project, aimed at providing convenience for the people of Sarawak.
