On the 6th, the United States announced new sanctions against Cuba, targeting Cuban Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces Miera, seven other individuals, and five state-owned entities.
In a statement, the US State Department said: "These measures target state entities, military enterprises, and officials of the Revolutionary Armed Forces Ministry (MINFAR) involved in foreign military cooperation and the procurement of military equipment for the Cuban regime."
Others sanctioned include the Chief of Staff of the Cuban Armed Forces, heads of the military's foreign relations and economic units, as well as military attachés stationed in China and Russia.
The sanctioned government-related entities are accused of assisting Cuba in procuring weapons from countries considered adversaries by the United States, including China and Russia.
On July 20, the US State Department released a report titled "Cuba: The Communist Capital of the 21st Century," and on the 6th stated that this report "documents the Cuban regime's continued partnership with Russia and China, both of which provide Cuba with military equipment, surveillance technology, and other security capabilities."
