(Manila, 21st) – The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) of the Philippines conducted a raid on June 19 in a residential area of Barangay Tambo, Parañaque City, seizing counterfeit Apple brand products worth up to 121.47 million pesos and arresting two suspects on the spot.
Brig. Gen. Macapaz, acting director of the CIDG, announced today that those arrested are “Crissa” and “Charles.” The two allegedly sold iPhones, Apple Watches, and related accessories without approval from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and without registration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), violating Articles 18 and 50 of the Philippine Consumer Act (Republic Act No. 7394) as well as Section 2 of NTC Memorandum Circular 08-08-2004A.
Police confiscated in total: 225 Apple smart watches, 531 MagSafe chargers, 4,580 AirPods earphones, 2,652 charger adapters, 6,664 chargers, 1,033 iPhone accessories, 70 car chargers, 1,740 charging cables, 87 handheld fans, 77 hair dryers, 126 Beats Solo headphones, one iPhone 16 mobile phone, and 110 headphones, with total estimated value reaching 121.47 million pesos.
Macapaz commended the CIDG Anti-Organized Crime Division for their swift action, successfully cracking the case and confiscating a substantial quantity of counterfeit goods.
“This operation demonstrates our determination to fully combat crime. CIDG will enforce the law unwaveringly and fearlessly against offenders, and calls on the public to actively report illegal activities—we will take immediate action,” he said.
