(Manila, 21st) The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has announced an extension of the suspension order on flight training activities at Topflite Academy of Aviation Inc. (TAAI) until all safety and compliance issues are fully resolved.
The academy experienced a flight "incident" near Iba Airport in Zambales Province on the 11th of this month. The CAAP stated that, to ensure the safety of future pilots and the standardization of flight training, it is necessary to continue the suspension of its training activities.
According to the CAAP statement, TAAI was initially suspended for only seven days, but due to the ongoing accident investigation, they have decided to further extend the suspension period.
"The extension of the suspension is to ensure that all flight schools strictly comply with established safety procedures and regulatory standards, and to maintain the professionalism and sense of responsibility in flight training," the statement read.
It is reported that the aircraft involved, with registration number RP-C2211, had four people onboard, all of whom suffered no life-threatening injuries and have received necessary medical care. To ensure the fairness of the investigation, both the involved flight instructor and student have been administratively grounded.
The CAAP emphasized that it will continue to strengthen its regulatory measures to ensure the safe and compliant operation of all flight training institutions.
