(Bandar Seri Begawan, 18th) The Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies (CSPS), in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC), is spearheading the development of Brunei’s first National Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Strategic Framework.
As part of this initiative, a forward-looking focus group workshop was held from July 8th to 10th at the CSPS auditorium.
This workshop forms a critical component of the project’s environmental scanning process, aiming to assess the current status of the national science and technology innovation system and to gather input from key stakeholders.
The three-day workshop brought together representatives from government agencies, academia, research institutions, and industry for in-depth discussions on the future landscape of science and technology innovation in Brunei.
Participants applied strategic foresight methods and scenario planning to explore key trends, challenges, and opportunities that may impact the national science and technology innovation ecosystem in the coming five to ten years.
The workshop featured structured group dialogues, scenario exercises, and prioritization activities, aiming to outline the drivers of transformation led by science and technology innovation.
The outcomes of this workshop will inform Brunei’s long-term vision, strategic priorities, and action plans for science and technology innovation development.
The Brunei Science Technology Innovation Strategic Partnership and the Brunei Science Technology Innovation Centre emphasized the importance of stakeholder collaboration in shaping an inclusive and future-oriented science and technology innovation framework, viewing this initiative as a key step towards building a resilient, knowledge-based economy aligned with the goals of the "Brunei Vision 2035."
