(Bandar Seri Begawan, 18th) Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) is a university focused on innovation through education and research, and has now become Brunei's leading technological university.
UTB is committed to nurturing outstanding talent and building a sustainable, globalized, and enterprising society, rooted in the national philosophy of Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB), to help realize Brunei’s ‘Vision 2035’.
UTB Vice Chancellor Datin Zohrah delivered an address at yesterday’s UTB-MIC Computer Degree Program and BriCOMP Certificate Award Ceremony, emphasizing UTB’s commitment to achieving the ‘Vision 2035’.
She highlighted that UTB is ranked among the top nine technology and engineering universities in the ASEAN region in the 2026 Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings.
UTB also made its debut in the prestigious 2025 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, being placed in the global top 801–1000 and among 23 universities in the ASEAN region.
She sees this as a remarkable achievement, reflecting UTB’s strong focus on academic excellence and innovation.
“Technology-driven growth areas such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and cyber security dominate. One can imagine whether these listed above are suitable for the global market. They certainly are, which means UTB and MIC are preparing you to go global.”
She stated, “We are proud of our accredited programs. All undergraduate programs of the School of Computing and Informatics have been accredited by the British Computer Society (BCS), and our MSc in Computer and Information Systems has also received dual partial accreditation.”
She added, BCS accreditation “is recognized in over 200 countries/regions, meaning a BCS-accredited degree allows you to work anywhere.”
She also shared the list of the world’s top 15 highest-paying jobs in 2025: artificial intelligence/machine learning engineer ranks third, data scientist fourth, blockchain developer fifth, investment banker seventh, cyber security expert eighth, cloud engineer tenth, marketing manager eleventh, and management consultant fourteenth.
She emphasized that UTB Business School’s undergraduate programs have obtained accreditation from the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). EFMD accreditation indicates that the business school meets the organization’s rigorous standards for teaching and research quality, and its degrees are recognized by employers and other stakeholders.
In addition, UTB also offers curriculum modules that develop soft skills, such as effective communication, entrepreneurial spirit, and professional ethics.
The university also boasts facilities supporting students’ passion for information technology, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
“Huawei provides on-site industry training, and the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AiML) Centre is an innovation hub supporting AI talent through education, training, research, and innovation.”
