Josie Ho 'Romances' Private Doctor — At Husband's Suggestion

Hong Kong actress Josie Ho (He Chao-yi) last year signed a 10-year contract with Iman, who was formerly her husband Conroy Chan’s private doctor, making him the first artist under her company and aiming to promote this “Doctor Heartthrob” into the entertainment industry for both acting and singing careers. Josie laughed and said that from the first moment she met Iman, she was attracted by his temperament and appearance: “At first glance, I thought he looked like a star!” To help her protégé quickly boost his popularity, Conroy Chan even generously 'gave the green light,' allowing his wife to form an 'on-screen couple' with Iman and act out sweet romantic scenes together!

Making the glamorous transition from doctor to actor, Iman’s career outlook is promising with the full support of Josie Ho and Conroy Chan. In addition to starring as the male lead in director Pang Fat’s upcoming film “The Rubbish Wizard 2”, he will again pair with Josie next year for Malaysian director Wong Kai Xuan’s romantic comedy “My Funny Valentine,” and he has already signed on for several Hollywood projects, with his star rising rapidly.

Outside of film and television, Iman also recently released his first photo poetry book, “Lost In Your Eyes,” personally produced by Josie Ho and shot by top photographer Wing Shya, with locations spanning Hong Kong, Macau, and Thailand. The work seamlessly blends poetry and visual art, showcasing his unique artistic flair. During the book launch and signing event in Malaysia on the 8th, Josie joked: “Every year in Hong Kong, many girls publish ‘striptease photobooks,’ but since Iman is handsome and talented, why not let him demonstrate his artsy side in a more refined way?” She emphasized that there’s no nudity in the book, only one swimming pool shot “for storytelling purposes.”

Josie jokingly said that when she first met Iman in the US, she didn’t think he looked like a doctor: “The way he dresses has the aura of a superstar, he writes poetry, and he has over 2 million followers on social media!” After finding out that Iman comes from a family of doctors but dreams of showbiz, she and Conroy decided to help him realize his dream. “I never thought about signing an artist before, but after meeting Iman, I changed my mind.” She also laughed, calling Iman the company’s “future cash cow.”

As for playing a couple with Iman in two consecutive films, would Conroy Chan get jealous? Josie replied heartily, “He was the one who suggested it! It’s easier to put Iman out there that way. He’s a newcomer — if we had someone else playing the romantic lead, they might not agree!” She joked, “I think after we play a couple, lots of actresses will want to be his co-star, he’s just too handsome!”

To prepare for the fight scenes in “The Rubbish Wizard 2,” Iman is currently undergoing intensive training with Yuen Woo-ping’s team. Josie laughed, “Neither of us has an action background, so lately we’ve been binge-watching Jet Li movies to bond through fight scenes.” She also revealed that Iman is working hard to learn Cantonese, and plans to learn Mandarin as well for opportunities on bigger stages.
