(Kuching, 23rd) In order to consolidate the development within Sarawak, women's talents and potentials should be fully utilized, especially in the appointment of leadership positions and active participation in key strategic fields.

The chairman of the Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia (ICDM), Tan Sri Datuk Seri Sharifah Sabrina, stated that empowering women through capacity building and skill enhancement is key to achieving gender-balanced participation in organizations and in both public and private sectors.

"Our main goal is to enhance women’s capabilities while helping them understand the challenges they face in career advancement. We hope to create more opportunities for women to enter leadership roles."

She made these remarks during a media interview after leading a team to pay a courtesy call on Sarawak's Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari.

She added that, according to statistics, over 60% of Malaysia's university graduates are women, yet high-level and leadership positions are still male-dominated.

She pointed out that this situation deserves high attention to ensure that women’s talents and expertise are not wasted.

"For all organizations, including state governments, utilizing all talents, be they male or female, is crucial for organizational decision-making and state development."

When asked about the response from Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Sharifah Sabrina said that the Premier fully supports this women's capacity-building plan and believes it aligns with the government’s vision of valuing human resources as the core driving force for Sarawak’s development.

She further pointed out that Abang Johari places great importance on human resource development and views cooperation with the Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence (SCOPE) as a crucial platform for enhancing the capability and competitiveness of Sarawak's workforce.
