00US Central Command released a statement on the 8th saying that US forces fired precision-guided munitions at two Iranian oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman on that day, disabling their navigation capabilities for violating the US blockade order.
The statement noted that US forces enforced blockade measures against two empty Iranian-flagged oil tankers, the “SEA STAR III” and the “SEVDA”, as they attempted to enter an Iranian port in the Gulf of Oman. An F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet based on the USS Bush aircraft carrier fired precision-guided munitions at the smokestacks of the tankers, rendering them unable to navigate.
The statement also said that on the 6th, a US fighter jet fired on another Iranian-flagged oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman, destroying the rudder of that empty tanker. At present, all three of the above oil tankers have stopped sailing toward Iran.
The statement added that since the US imposed a blockade on vessels traveling to and from Iranian ports on April 13, more than 50 ships have been forcibly redirected.
