(Bandar Seri Begawan, 5th) Baiduri Bank and Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, aiming to establish a strategic framework to promote research, innovation, and talent development.
The signing ceremony was held at the Baiduri Community Space in Baiduri Bank headquarters, with Brunei's Minister of Transport and Infocommunications, Pengiran Shamhary, as the guest of honor who officially presided over the signing. The memorandum was signed by Baiduri Bank CEO Mr. Ti Eng Hui and UBD Vice-Chancellor Dr. Hazri, witnessed by senior government officials, bank board members, and UBD management.
This collaboration marks a significant step forward for industry and academia in supporting Brunei’s digital transformation. Focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI), both parties will jointly explore the application of AI in financial services and other sectors, including joint research in areas such as data analytics, automation, and digital risk management. These efforts directly support the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC)’s launch of the "Digital Brunei Transformation Plan," which will replace the Digital Economy Blueprint and aims to create a smarter Brunei through inclusive innovation, ethical AI governance, and digital talent cultivation.
