(Bandar Seri Begawan, 1st) The Royal Malaysia Police Sarawak Contingent (PDRM) and the Royal Brunei Police Force (PPDB) will further strengthen intelligence sharing and joint enforcement coordination to combat the increasingly complex cross-border criminal activities along the Malaysia-Brunei border.
The two parties reached this consensus at a bilateral meeting between the Royal Malaysia Police Sarawak Contingent and the Royal Brunei Police Force, held yesterday at the Royal Brunei Police Headquarters.
Dato Mohd Azman Abdullah, Sarawak Police Commissioner, led the Sarawak police delegation, while Dato Seri Paduka Bahrin Sulaiman Arifin led the Brunei police delegation.
This meeting served as an important platform for both sides to enhance professional ties and deepen cooperation to jointly address the threat of cross-border crime.
The meeting focused on strengthening intelligence sharing, coordinating communication mechanisms, and conducting joint enforcement operations to improve enforcement efficiency.
Both sides also discussed joint search and rescue operations (SAR), enhancing maritime security controls, combating maritime crimes, and coordinating the handover procedures of detainees (OKT) in custody.
In addition, both parties exchanged views and explored further strengthening of strategic cooperation to ensure a faster and more effective response to various security threats in border areas.
At the meeting, the Royal Brunei Police Commissioner also presented certificates of appreciation to Miri District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Fauhan Lee and Limbang District Police Chief Superintendent Parum Niot, commending their swift action and close cooperation in assisting to crack cases involving suspects fleeing Brunei.
Both parties stated that not only were the set objectives achieved at this meeting, but the strategic partnership between the Sarawak Police Contingent and the Royal Brunei Police Force was further consolidated.
They believe that continued deepening of cooperation will help enhance enforcement capabilities, strengthen border security, and jointly maintain peace and security for the peoples of Malaysia and Brunei.
