Wun Chung Alumni Association Holds Board Meeting to Discuss Annual Plans and Improve Systems

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 14th) The Wun Chung Alumni Association held its first board meeting for 2026 today. The meeting agenda covered the president’s address, annual event arrangements, future planning, as well as improvements to the association’s operating systems. Board members participated enthusiastically in the discussions, exchanging views on advancing association affairs, strengthening connections among alumni, and serving their alma mater, gathering consensus for the work of the new year in a constructive atmosphere.

The meeting began with an address by the president, who thanked all board members for attending despite their busy schedules and acknowledged everyone’s ongoing support and contributions to the association. The president said that the Alumni Association serves as an important platform linking alumni with their alma mater, bearing the mission of uniting alumni, promoting exchange, passing on the spirit of the alma mater, and fostering the development of education and culture. Over the years, the Association has organized various events, scholarship programs, and alumni exchange projects, not only strengthening ties among alumni, but also contributing to the development of the alma mater. Going forward, the board will continue to uphold its purpose of serving alumni and giving back to the alma mater, promoting more systematic and sustainable growth of the association.

Looking ahead to 2026, the meeting also discussed plans to carry out a number of activities this year that will benefit both alumni and the alma mater, including enhancing fellowship among alumni, facilitating interaction between cohorts, and planning more educational and cultural events. Details will be further discussed and confirmed by the board and announced to alumni at an appropriate time.

Regarding scholarship activities, the current plan is to hold this year’s scholarship event on June 14th (Sunday) at 9 a.m., in the second-floor auditorium of the association headquarters. The deadline for scholarship applications is tentatively set for April 30 (Sunday). This event’s organizing committee will be chaired by Lin Weian, who will coordinate the preparations. Detailed information on application criteria and activity details will be formally announced by the Association in due course.

Additionally, following the adoption of relevant agendas at the December 2025 General Meeting, the board today formally established several working groups at the meeting to promote the systematization of association affairs and improvement of the constitution. The group leaders are as follows:

The relevant groups will gradually begin their work to further improve the association’s systems and data management, making organizational operations more regulated and efficient. Meanwhile, in conjunction with International Women’s Day on March 8, the board arranged a simple celebration segment, during which the female board members of the alumni association cut a cake together, symbolizing recognition of women’s contributions to society, family, and the community, adding a warm atmosphere to the meeting.

Board member Chen Meilan stated that International Women’s Day is not only a day of commemoration and celebration, but also serves as a reminder for society to pay attention to gender equality and diverse participation. She mentioned that women continue to exert influence in various fields, making positive contributions to social and community development. She encourages more women to build self-confidence, actively participate in public affairs, make use of their expertise, and play their roles in different positions, working together to advance the association and society.

The board stated that, just like other local Chinese associations, the Wun Chung Alumni Association will continue to uphold principles of openness and transparency, with the overall interests of its members as its basis. All alumni are welcome to participate in the establishment and improvement of the system with rational and constructive attitudes.
