TVB goddess Rebecca Zhu was recently crowned Malaysia’s Best Actress at the 2024 TVB Anniversary Awards. Now one of TVB’s "drama queens," she has been busy with non-stop projects. After wrapping up Life of Imitation alongside Anita Yuen, she is currently filming The Chivalrous Doctor with Best Actor Moses Chan, Rosina Lam, and Matthew Ho. It’s reported that her next project will see her collaborating with Julian Cheung and Ron Ng for the first time in a new drama Glittering City (working title), helmed by producer Chan Wai-kwun.

The drama’s two female leads were previously rumored to include Katy Kung, Roxanne Tong, and Mandy Wong, who has since left TVB. However, it is now confirmed that the female leads will be Rebecca Zhu and Samantha Ko. Since Ko is currently filming News Queen 2, production for Glittering City is slated to begin in late May at the earliest.

This marks Julian Cheung's return to TVB drama after 12 years since Triumph in the Skies II. The series will feature filming locations in Macau, with Cheung and Ron Ng playing wealthy brothers. Rebecca Zhu and Samantha Ko’s characters, initially best friends, become entangled in a love triangle with the two male leads, leading to a fallout when they both fall for the same man.

The cast has been tight-lipped about the drama’s details. In a recent interview with On.cc, Julian Cheung shared, “I’ve accepted a role in a drama, but I can’t reveal any details yet. Everything will be announced by the production team later.” Rebecca Zhu added, “I’ll start filming a new drama after wrapping The Chivalrous Doctor, but details will be shared by the company. Personally, I’d love to take on a period drama, though I’m concerned about mastering the classical dialogue.”
